ITINERARY:

Day 1: Thursday — Departure from U.S.A/Canada to Milan
Departure from the U.S.A to Italy with your own purchased airline tickets.
Day 2: FridayMilan / Florence
Meet your tour leader at 9:00 a.m. at the hotel to start your 2-hour tour of the city centre. You will visit the shopping gallery Vittorio Emanuele II, the Sforza castle, and the Splendid Duomo, one of the world’s largest most striking Gothic cathedrals. Free time for lunch before continuing your journey to Florence. Check in at a 4 star superior hotel in the city centre of Florence, followed by a 3 course gourmet dinner at a local restaurant (wine, mineral water or sodas are included) where you will discover the Tuscan cuisine. Overnight at the hotel in Florence.

Day 3: SaturdayFlorence
After breakfast, your guide will take you on a 3 hour tour of this magnificent Renaissance city. You will visit the beautiful Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Academia Gallery (inside visit, skip the line entrance tickets included), famous for the Milchelangelo’s David. The afternoon is at your disposal to stroll on your own among the charming streets of Florence. Your tour leader will gladly give you suggestions! In the evening enjoy a 3 course gourmet dinner at a local restaurant (wine, mineral water or sodas are included) where you will continue your culinary adventure and taste even more Tuscan specialties. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Sunday Florence / Pisa / Siena / Rome
Depart for Pisa after breakfast. After the panoramic drive through the Tuscan countryside, along the banks of the Arno river, meet your guide for a 2 hour guided tour of Piazza dei Miracoli, with the celebrated Leaning Tower (exterior visit), the Baptistery (exterior visit) and other important monuments. Time at leisure for lunch, and then proceed to Siena where you will take a 2 hour tour of the old city centre. You will walk along these beautiful medieval streets admiring the splendid palace. The tour will end in the Piazza del Campo, one of the most beautiful squares in the world and site of the famous 600+ year-old Palio horse race. Here you will also visit the spectacular Cathedral. After the tour, continue to Rome. The estimates arrival time in Rome is 6 pm.

Day 5: MondayRome
After a buffet breakfast at the hotel you enjoy a 3 hour “Discovering Rome” guided walking tour. You will be picked up at your hotel at about 9.00 a.m. The tour will start from Largo Argentina and continue to Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza Farnese, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps. Rest of the day is at leisure. In the evening, enjoy a 3 course gourmet dinner at a local restaurant (wine, mineral water or sodas are included) where you will discover the Roman cuisine. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: TuesdayRome / Assisi / Ravenna / Venice
Meet your tour leader after breakfast and depart by deluxe minibus to Assisi where you will visit the mystic town of Saint Francis still surrounded by its ancient walls. See the Basilica of Saint Francis with its early Renaissance masterpieces by Giotto and Cimabue. Continue towards Ravenna, known as the mosaic city because of the stunning 5th-6th century mosaics that decorate the walls of its churches and monuments and because it is still one of Italy’s top producers of mosaics. You will meet a private English speaking guide who will help you discover this marvelous city. Ravenna has: eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Roman sites, museums, Dante’s tomb and, just a little outside its city center, the spectacular Sant’Apollinare in Classe, a splendid 6th century basilica, with mosaics in the Presbytery and a cylindrical bell tower. The tour then continues to Venice. Check in at a 4 star superior hotel in the city center of Venice (deluxe room) followed by a 3 course gourmet dinner at a local restaurant (wine, mineral water or sodas are included) where you will discover the Venetian cuisine. Overnight at the hotel in Venice.

Day 7: WednesdayVenice
After breakfast you will meet your private English speaking guide for a panoramic 2 hour walking tour of this unique city. You will see the Piazza and Basilica of St. Mark, enjoy an inside visit of the Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs and the Prison (Skip the line entrance tickets included). Lunch is at leisure. This afternoon depart by boat to the island of Murano with your tour leader. Once in Murano you will attend a demonstration of glass blowing and have time for shopping. Return to the city centre for a 3- course gourmet dinner at a local restaurant (wine, mineral water or sodas are included) where you will continue your culinary adventure and taste even more Venetian specialties. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: ThursdayVenice / Verona / Sirmione (Lake Garda)/ Lake Como
Transfer by boat from the hotel to Piazzale Roma and board your deluxe minibus. Your journey continues to Verona. Once there, you will enjoy a 2-hour visit of the town of Romeo and Juliet!
Following the visit, continue to Sirmione, a charming town located in the southern part of Lake Garda. Upon arrival, you will have free time for lunch and for a brief walking tour on your own of the historical centre. In the early afternoon, the tour will continue to Como located on the shore of Lake Como. Your driver and tour leader will take you for panoramic visit of this beautiful lake before arriving at the hotel in Como. Check in at a 4 star superior hotel situated in the city centre of Como (deluxe room) followed by a 3 course gourmet dinner at a local restaurant (wine, mineral water or sodas are included) where you will savour more specialties of the Northern Italian cuisine. Overnight at the hotel in Como.

Breakfast at the hotel and then board your minibus to proceed to Milan. Drop off at the Milan rail station.

Gratuities:
Tips to waiters, chambermaids, and to the Tour Directors, local guides, and drivers are not included. The following is a suggested guideline on tipping:
(a.) Euro 1.00 per person/per day for waiters and chambermaids
(b.) Euro 2.00 per person/per day for drivers and local guides
(c.) Euro 3.00 per person/per day for your Tour Director
Transfers: Add transfers to your tour so you don’t have to worry about how to get to your hotel and back. Price per one-way transfer is $159 per car if purchased with your tour. Car can accommodate 1 to 3 passengers depending on the number of suitcases you will have.
Transit Tax: As of July 1, 2011 all visitors to Italy are required to pay an additional tourist tax for their hotel stay. The new tax has been created mainly to help re-build the ancient cities and is based on how many stars a hotel has. This tax may vary by city and can range from 3 to 5 Euro per person, per night, for a maximum of 10 consecutive nights. This must be paid by the visitor, in Euro, directly to the hotel at time of check-out. It will be presented as a separate charge from any other charges accrued at the hotel. (Children under the age of 10 are exempt from this tax.

Air Transportation: Air fares change often and vary by gateway city, season, day of week and seat availability. Our air fares will be quoted to you within two business days of your tour reservation and will include the air fare, fuel surcharges and government taxes as quoted by the airlines. You are under no obligation to accept our airfare quote and may elect to use your reward miles or your preferred airline. Typical airfares from New York to Rome varies from $1200 in March – May and September – October to $1500 in June – August but can change without prior notice. We highly recommend to reserve your seats early in order to obtain the best air fare.
