ITINERARY:

Note: First day of tour is your departure date from the USA. Actual tour in Italy begins the next day.

Day 1: Friday — Departure from USA/Canada to Rome
Departure from USA to Italy – with your own purchased airline tickets.
Day 2: Saturday– Arrival in Rome
Welcome to Italy!
Upon arrival in Rome’s Fiumicino airport please proceed through the Passport Control and collect your luggage inside the customs area. Transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the Eternal City.
Overnight in Rome.
Day 3: Sunday — Rome
American buffet breakfast at the hotel. In the morning you will enjoy a 3-hour “Discovering Rome”, walking tour. You will be picked up at your hotel at about 9.00 a.m. The tour will start from Largo Argentina and continue to Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza Farnese , Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish steps. The tour will end at the last stop. The rest of the day is at leisure to take an optional tour or explore the city on your own.
Overnight in Rome.

Day 4: Monday — Rome/Assisi/Siena/Florence
After breakfast we depart at 7.30 -07.45 a.m. for Assisi. Board your coach at the hotel for a visit of the mystic town of Saint Francis still surrounded by ancient walls. Visit the Basilica of Saint Francis with its early Renaissance masterpieces by Giotto and Cimabue. At the end of the visit, we continue towards SIENA, the beautiful medieval city renown for the Palio horse race. Proceed to FLORENCE.
Overnight in Florence.

Day 5: Tuesday– Florence
Enjoy your buffet breakfast at the hotel then join us for a guided sightseeing tour of the city, also known as the cradle of the Renaissance. Visit the beautiful Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistery of St. John, and Santa Croce, the 13th century Franciscan Church with Cimabue’s famous crucifix. The balance of the day is at leisure for optional sightseeing (we suggest the PISA half day tour) or for shopping. Dinner at a local Restaurant.

Day 6: Wednesday — Florence/Padua/Venice
American buffet breakfast at the hotel and departure to VENICE by coach. Along the way you will stop in PADUA, where you will visit the famous Cathedral of St. Anthony, guarded by Donatello’s “Gattamelata”. Continue towards VENICE, and, upon arrival, enjoy a panoramic guided walking tour of this unique city. You will see St. Mark’s square, the Basilica of St. Mark, the Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs and the Prisons.
Dinner and overnight in Venice.

Day 7: Thursday– Venice/Rome
After breakfast, take a morning boat tour. You will cross the lagoon with a view of the islands and reach the island of Murano where you will assist in a demonstration of glass blowing . In the afternoon, the boat will take you to the rail station or the Tronchetto for your transfer back to Rome by rail or motor coach. (means of transportation is reconfirmed before the end of the tour and advised by the assistant). Upon arrival in Rome you will be transferred directly to your hotel. If you are arriving via rail, your driver will be waiting for you at the end of platform holding a sign with your last name.

Day 8: Friday — Rome/U.S.A.
Say farewell to Italy and transfer on your own to the Airport, or train station on your own, for your return flight home or if you wish you may extend your stay.

Gratuities:
Tips to waiters, chambermaids, and to the Tour Directors, local guides, and drivers are not included. The following is a suggested guideline on tipping:
(a.) Euro 1.00 per person/per day for waiters and chambermaids
(b.) Euro 2.00 per person/per day for drivers and local guides
(c.) Euro 3.00 per person/per day for your Tour Director
Transfers:
Add transfers to your tour so you don’t have to worry about how to get to your hotel and back. Price per one-way transfer is $159 per car if purchased with your tour. Car can accommodate 1 to 3 passengers depending on the number of suitcases you will have.

Transit Tax:
As of July 1, 2011 all visitors to Italy are required to pay an additional tourist tax for their hotel stay. The new tax has been created mainly to help re-build the ancient cities and is based on how many stars a hotel has. This tax may vary by city and can range from 3 to 5 Euro per person, per night, for a maximum of 10 consecutive nights. This must be paid by the visitor, in Euro, directly to the hotel at time of check-out. It will be presented as a separate charge from any other charges accrued at the hotel. (Children under the age of 10 are exempt from this tax.

Air Transportation:
Air fares change often and vary by gateway city, season, day of week and seat availability. Our air fares will be quoted to you within two business days of your tour reservation and will include the air fare, fuel surcharges and government taxes as quoted by the airlines. You are under no obligation to accept our airfare quote and may elect to use your reward miles or your preferred airline. Typical airfares from New York to Rome varies from $1200 in March – May and September – October to $1500 in June – August but can change without prior notice. We highly recommend to reserve your seats early in order to obtain the best air fare.
